Perhaps the news channel will file the FOI request. The burden of proof is on the ATF and they will have to use a really bullshit faked video to prove that a toy gun will even fire one round, much less convert to a "machine-gun". That agent is either very stupid or he must feel very stupid now.

I saw a you tube video where a guy demonstrates how to convert these toy guns to working real guns. But to do it you have to buy the clip and the firing mechanism, not something most people have lying around if they don't already have an assault rifle. Therefore the ATF guy was probably being very over zealous. You can also find plans on the internet to build a primative but working machine gun out of various steel plates, tubes, channel, and a big spring.. It's not very accurate (hydrolic tubing for a barrel, for instance, no rifling) but the designer claims he's test fired it and it can "throw a lot of metal downrange". I don't know who would bother (much labour involved), but are they going to start seizing hydrolic tubing now? There is even a plan to make a gun out of parts found at your hardware store but anyone who would try and shoot that is nuts.
